Mr. Frank Lusch and his wife Mary of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, had been in Bermuda only one day when they lost the bag.

"I just thought it was very nice of the person to return it,'' she said from her hotel room yesterday. "I never thought I would have got it back.'' The couple arrived on Monday and are staying at Grotto Bay Hotel. Having stayed at the St. George's Club on a previous visit, they decided to play a round of golf there the next day.

"I usually put my bag in the back carriage of the golf cart,'' Mrs. Lusch said. "But it was raining that day so I placed it next to my leg in the golf cart to protect it from the rain under my umbrella.'' "I don't know when it fell off, but I only noticed it was missing after we were halfway through the course. We backtracked but couldn't find it.'' Meanwhile, specialist groundsman Mr. Brian Morris had just finished cutting the 16th green and was on his way to the next one when he saw a black tote bag nestled between the cart path and some trees close to the Club Med beach.

He picked it up and checked for identification.

"I opened it and inside there was a wallet and some shades. I looked in the wallet and saw the money and credit cards. At that point all my family values came into play and I immediately took it to the Pro shop.

"I have worked here for three years and have found all sorts of things on the golf course that people leave behind but I've never come across anything as valuable as this.'' After turning the money in, Mr. Morris promptly left and never met the the couple, who claimed the bag from the Pro shop later that day.
