Glen Wiche, from America, has donated a picture to the Stonington Beach Hotel of its picturesque grounds.

It is in memory of his late wife, Susan, who along with Mr. Wiche came to Bermuda and fell in love with the Island.

"We immediately fell in love with the easy elegance of the people and the warm hospitality of the people,'' said Mr. Wiche, who first came to Bermuda in 1990.

He and his wife kept returning to the Island and for one Christmas present, he commissioned a picture of a walk they took in Bermuda from a Chicago artist.

"Of course, I did not realise that within a few months my wife would have passed away.

"I began to think about the happy times we had here and so I approached the same artist and commissioned her to paint another picture,'' said Mr. Wiche.

It was presented to Stonington general manager Edmund Tucker last week and now hangs in the hotel lobby.

There is a brass plate under the picture which says "in loving memory of Susan Wiche'' and every visitor who walks past will be reminded of the love affair.
