Water sports boost to satisfy visitors
A group of small hotels and cottage colonies have launched a joint initiative aimed at increasing visitor satisfaction.
As of tomorrow, guests at Bermuda Collection properties will be able to take part in a fun-filled sea-going activities programme hosted by the MV Bermuda Longtail .
Every Saturday over the summer, guests from The Reefs, Lantana Colony Club, Cambridge Beaches, Pompano Beach Club, Stonington Beach Hotel and the Collection's newest member -- Ariel Sands Club & Cottages -- will be able to take part in a four hour cruise which will also offer a wide range of water sports.
Discussions with MV Bermuda Longtail skipper Steven Brown hatched the idea, said The Reefs executive assistant manager Richard Quinn.
"It all stems from throwing around ideas about how we could possibly improve our guest experience. At first we were looking at doing it just from The Reefs but then we decided that we should extend it to the other Bermuda Collection properties.'' The idea was presented to the other properties' general managers who endorsed it.
"The whole idea is to offer our guests something different, something new, something that's fun for them,'' said Mr. Quinn.
"This is something where they will be able to do a variety of things and mingle with each other and it would not be available otherwise.'' The MV Bermuda Longtail will leave Darrell's Wharf at 10 a.m. and head to Somerset Bridge where it will pick up guests from the more western properties.
It will then steam -- while a commentary on the Island is given -- to one of four possible spots where it will anchor and be joined by para-sailing, kayaking, banana boat, wind surfing and jet-skiing operators.
Snorkelling will also be available and lunch will be included in the trip's price. During the return voyage the party will kick off with calypso and exotic drinks flowing.
"This is really positive,'' said Capt. Brown. "The Longtail will be a floating sports platform. It will be a fun time for the guests and will enhance their overall vacation experience.''
