The 30-year-old from Pembroke, thought to have been drinking, was trying to make her dog sit on the pavement near the horse-and-carriage stands.

But when the canine refused, the angry woman started beating the dog on its back and even resorted to sitting on the pitbull.

The incident was witnessed by hundreds of onlookers -- including an on-duty policewoman who made the arrest just before noon yesterday.
