A 37-year-old homeless man was fined $250 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of scotch.

Denton Rodney Fough of no fixed adress admitted the offence which occurred on February 14.

Insp. Peter Duffy prosecuting, told the court that Fough entered the Modern Mart on South Road in Paget removed two bottles of scotch from a shelf and placed them in his pants. He then left the store without paying.

When confronted outside by the manager, Fough ran causing one bottle to fall to the ground.

He was later arrested.

"I was under a lot of stress,'' Fough said "I don't know why it happened that's not usually my thing.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis then fined him $250.
