A Hamilton Parish man who admitted beating his teenage nephew, opening up a cut above his eye which required several stitches, was fined $800 in
Clinton Egbert Simpson, 38, said the 17-year-old deserved the beating because he was a "rude little boy''.
"He's got no manners. He needed a few cracks,'' Simpson told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.
Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said Simpson hit the boy on March 30 in retaliation over an incident the day before. The teenager had struck him with a cricket bat in an attempt to break up a fight between Simpson and his younger brother, Sgt. James said.
The next day when the boy was alone in the upper apartment eating potato chips, Simpson approached him, Sgt. James said. He "rammed the Pringles can into the left side of his face and slapped him'', Sgt. James said.
Before imposing the fine, Mr. Francis reprimanded Simpson, telling him it was "no way for a fully grown man to behave''.
