A man snatched money from a supermarket cash register and fled, Police reported yesterday.

The man entered A-1 Supermarket in Paget at about 8 p.m. on Thursday and pretended to purchase a beer, a Police spokesman said. He then grabbed an undetermined amount of cash from the open register and ran toward St. Paul's Christian Education Centre.

The suspect was described as in his late teens to early 20s, five feet, 11 inches tall, and very slim. He wore a beige and green baseball cap and light-coloured clothing.

MAN STOLE GAS CTS Stealing just over one dollar's worth of gas from a car parked outside a Parsons Road paint shop has cost a Pembroke man a $50 fine.

Steven Ming, 30, pleaded guilty to the offence in Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutor Sgt. Early Kirby said Police on duty in the area saw Ming acting suspiciously when they passed by about 3.15 a.m. on March 10. After they discovered gas dripping from a nearby car, Ming admitted he had stolen some because he had run out.

"I don't normally do things like that,'' he said.

SEX ASSAULT CRM Detectives are investigating a sexual assault report made by a 28 year-old Warwick woman.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred around 10.15 a.m. on Tuesday as the woman was pedalling her cycle east along North Shore Road in Pembroke.

She reported that a man on a motorcycle rode alongside and indecently assaulted her.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Central CID office at 295-0011.

TRAFFIC DELAYS TFC Motorists will face hold-ups in Flatts Village this month while part of North Shore Road is resurfaced.

Work will be carried out between St. James Court and the junction with Flatts Hill, between April 4 and 15.

A single lane traffic light system will be in place for 12 days, and people are being urged to take alternative routes.

A Works and Engineering Ministry spokesman said: "We would like to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologise for any inconvenience that may result.''
