instruments will soon have the opportunity to perform in public following formation of a school community band.

The band is expected to play a variety of music from popular to classic. "It was initially conceived with the Warwick Academy alumni,'' band director Mr.

Thomas Cremer explained.

"They (pupils) often reach a very high level of competence, but once they leave the school they have very little opportunity to pursue their music.

"Although the aim is to attract adult members, students will be considered if they have reached the musical standard equivalent of RSM grade five or above.'' Mr. Cremer, who will conduct and direct, said the band would be for wind players what the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra has been for string players.

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. at the Warwick Academy music rooms.

A preliminary meeting to gauge interest and instrument range will be held today.

Those coming should enter through the primary school entrance on Middle Road.

Instruments do not need to be brought.
