Rudolph Simons, of Rushy Lane, was given a conditional discharge for one year for riding without due care on Middle Road in Sandys Parish on January 28.

In Magistrates' Court on Monday, Simons also pleaded guilty to using offensive words.

Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told Senior Magistrate Will Francis that Simons was riding too close behind a woman around 4 p.m. that day.

When the woman slowed to turn onto Fairhaven Lane, Simons rode into the rear of her car.

Simons and his passenger fell from his cycle. When the woman walked to the rear of her car, he became irate and threw parts of his cycle about the road.

Mrs. Smith said Simons shouted verbal abuse at the woman and a crowd of about 20 schoolchildren gathered about the scene.

"What are you stupid, lady?'' Simons shouted at her. "Your car doesn't have a f***ing scratch. I only had the bike three days.'' When Police arrived they were confronted with the unruly crowd and Simons shouting: "What the f*** you want? We don't need you here.'' Duty counsel Tyrone Chin told Mr. Francis: "Simons became irate when the woman only looked for damage on her car and not at the two boys on the road.'' Simons interjected: "All respect to you and this court. But if that had been a man I would have fought him.'' Simons told Mr. Francis: "I had just got a new bike, and the brakes were not working.'' Mr. Francis gave Simons a conditional discharge for one year for riding without due care.

But he was unmoved by Mr. Chin's suggestion that Simons be given another conditional discharge for using offensive words and fined him $100.
