Warwick man who admitted possessing an offensive weapon and giving a false name to Police.

Crenison Bolom Smith, of Smith's Avenue, was arrested on August 26 in Camp Hill for possessing an eight inch kitchen knife..a After his arrest he told Police that his name was Michael Edward Smith of Khyber Pass and that his birth date was December 18, 1974.

He signed Police documents using the name and answered to it when he appeared in court last September. He was given a conditional discharge at that court appearance.

Soon after, however, Police received a complaint from a man calling himself Michael Edward Smith who lived in Khyber Pass. Based on this information they arrested Crenison Smith.

When asked why he deliberately misled Police, Smith said that after he gave the false name it came up on their computer.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "They say computers are great but if you put lies in you get lies out. You were trying to fool first the Police and then this court.'' Smith admitted that he had no excuse for what he had done but added that he had turned himself into Police and owned up to the crime.

Mr. Francis ordered a social inquiry report and adjourned the case until February 18. He released Smith on $300 bail and one surety.
