Prince Philip to visit Island The Duke of Edinburgh will pay a whirlwind visit to Bermuda next week.

The Queen's husband will arrive on the Island next Thursday and will depart less than 24 hours later.

His Royal Highness will present Gold awards to 14 participants of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and attend a private fund raising dinner at Government House.

Prince Philip will also visit the Co-Ed Facility, tour Paget Island and visit the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

SYSTEM IN HIGH GEAR TRA GVT System in high gear A new computer relicensing system, aimed at speeding up customer service, is up and running at the Transportation Control Department. The system was installed over the weekend and is being used by licensing staff for the first time this week.

TCD manager of administration Valdon Caesar yesterday said: "This is going to make life a lot easier for us and for our customers. Once it is fully implemented it is going to speed things up a lot.

"We have had some delays today as staff get used to this new system, and as Government's computer systems and services staff iron out glitches in the programme,'' he added.

Drivers will no longer have to glue licences to car windshields, Mr. Caesar pointed out. Under the new system, licences will display both the expiry date and vehicle number which can be fitted into a pouch which is applied to the windshield.
