Bar owner aims to take over Odyssey
owner of The Beach to open a new bar at the Odyssey Nightclub.
To be called Club 40, it is understood the owners intend the club to cater to cruise ship tourists during the week and local patrons on weekends.
The Beach owners Rick Olson and Kevin Burrows will apply as Leaping Lizard Ltd. before the Authority.
Only Pembroke residents or property owners within 300 yards of the 5,233-square-foot premises on the second floor of the Brunswick Building at 119 Front Street can object to the licence.
They have been asked to provide written notice containing their general objections by today.
The Odyssey closed earlier this year after accumulating debts in excess of more than $140,000 in unpaid payroll taxes, and rent.
When contacted to check on the status of the club's bills, lawyer Michael Smith said he had not handled the parent company, Troy Starr's case for more than six months and could not comment.
In November, property owner Brunswick Co. Ltd. issued a writ against Troy Star Ltd., together with Tracy Tucker, Mario Dismont, and Kenneth Wainwright as guarantors of the club's lease.
