Sixteen-year-old Jennifer Toombs, who is alleged to have killed Bermudian Latanya Lavallais, goes on trial for first degree murder next Monday.

The Minister's daughter from Denver, Colorado, was arrested last October.

Meanwhile, Lavallais' family thanked Premier David Saul who sent condolences on behalf of the people of Bermuda.

"These past few months have been very difficult for us,'' the prepared statement read. "Our grief has been overwhelming but the warm embrace and understanding of those loved ones who travelled from so far away to share in our sorrow, the letters, cards, phone calls, faxes and the many beautiful flowers have given us great comfort.

"Latanya radiated a genuine and sweet quality which endeared her to all with whom she came into contact.

"She always considered the welfare of others before seeking favour for herself.'' BBC CREW SET TO VISIT TV BBC crew set to visit Bermuda will get worldwide exposure next week when the British Broadcasting Company broadcasts live from the Island.

The BBC will transmit its World Business Report from the Island on Monday -- on BBC World television and an audience of millions.

Although programmers are still trying to arrange interviews they are hoping to get new Premier Pamela Gordon to talk about business in Bermuda as well as the Governor and leaders in the business community.

It is expected the BBC TV crew will arrive on Saturday and will broadcast the 15-minute programme on Monday from the Hamilton Princess.

The programme will feature Bermuda and key players such as the Premier, the Bermuda Monetary Authority and Lord Waddington. It will also feature other international business stories.

FATHER ATTACKS WOMAN CTS Father attacks woman A 35-year-old Pembroke woman was taken to hospital suffering from a cut to her head after she was hit by her father with a piece of PVC piping.

According to Police, the father then set his pet dog on his daughter who was bitten on her leg.

The incident happened at about 8 p.m. on Monday after an argument between the two. Police inquiries are continuing.

BLAZE AT BERMUDIANA FIR Blaze at Bermudiana Fifteen firefighters tackled a blaze in a third floor room in the derelict Bermudiana Hotel in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The Fire Service was called out at about 1.20 a.m. and found the room on fire.

They left the scene at about 2.30 a.m. and the cause of the fire is unknown.

POLICE PROB ACCIDENT AC Police probe accident Police are investigating a three-vehicle accident involving a car and two cycles.

At about 4 p.m. on Monday a Mazda car travelling on Middle Road, Southampton, braked to stop at a school crossing.

Two motorcycles were unable to stop and collided with the rear of the car. One 16-year-old cycle rider was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but was released after treatment. The other cycle rider was not injured.

RASH OF BREAK-INS CRM Rash of break-ins A couple in their mid-60s had a quantity of cash removed from their room at Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort after someone entered the room in the early morning hours of Monday morning.

In an unrelated incident, a 34-year-old Paget woman lost some money that she had left in her handbag after someone entered her home sometime on Sunday or early Monday morning.

And a Hamilton couple lost some money after a thief broke into their home.

CYCLE RIDERS ARRESTED CRM Cycle riders arrested A 14-year-old cycle rider and his 13-year-old passenger were arrested by Police after being stopped on Tee Street on Monday evening by officers who discovered the bike was stolen.
