Best wishes sent to Tim Smith
yesterday as he recovered in hospital after surgery on a broken leg.
MPs wished the House Deputy Speaker well, expressing hopes for his speedy recovery.
Mr. Smith, MP for Paget West, was in collision with a car on Tuesday afternoon as he rode his bike along Court Street.
The 33-year-old underwent surgery at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for a fracture to his right leg.
Works Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons asked the House of Assembly to send best wishes to Mr. Smith.
He said he understood Mr. Smith would be in hospital for at least 10 days.
Mr. Gibbons expressed hope for a speedy and complete recovery.
House Speaker the Hon. Ernest DeCouto said: "I was very sad to hear about what happened.'' On a different note, Shadow Education Minister Ms Jennifer Smith asked for MPs to send congratulations to Mr. Desmond Fountain for his display of sculptures and paintings at the National Gallery.
The exhibition is a retrospective of Mr. Fountain's work.
Shadow Health and Social Services Minister Mr. Nelson Bascome congratulated Berkeley Institute on the production of "Fences'' by Mr. August Wilson.
He said special congratulations should go to teacher director Mrs. Shangri-La Durham Thompson, student director Keita-Roy Simons, and the cast of the play: Roderick Nesbitt, Nelson Bascome III, Cindy Smith, Eugene Walker, Jerell Martin, Devaune Ratteray and Litisha Lister.
Mr. Bascome also read out a list of Bermuda's national heroes who were being celebrated on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bermuda Industrial Union founder Dr. Edgar Fitzgerald Gordon (Mazumbo).
The names were officially read into the BIU Hall of Fame this week during the 100 Black Men Forum at St. Paul A.M.E. Centennial Hall.
