They show a rise of about 12 percent over last year on the numbers coming in between January 1 and June 13.

Some 204,995 visitors arrived here in that period -- 22,273 more than last year. Of these 161,273 came by air, and 43,722 by cruise ship.

For the week June 7-13, there was a 9.7 increase on 1992, the Government figures reveal.

The total was 16,242 -- a 1,440 addition to last year's figure of 14,802.

Those arriving by plane amounted to 11,131, and those by cruise ship to 5,095.

Occupancy levels for the cruise ships remained extremely high, with the Horizon full to capacity.

Song of America was 99.01 percent full, while Meridian's level was 97.50 percent.

Dreamward was 96.02 percent full -- the lowest percentage of the four ships.

The latest good news comes on the heels of Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul's economic statement in the House of Assembly on Friday.

Dr. Saul said Bermuda was climbing out of the recession, but he described the recovery as fragile. He also warned businesses against pushing up wage settlements.
