Browne Evans celebrate their birthdays tomorrow, the House of Assembly was told on Friday.

Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan extended birthday wishes to both of them. Sir Henry, who served in the House, "made a significant contribution to the affairs of Bermuda'' and will turn 92, Sir John said.

He also congratulated Mrs. Browne Evans, without giving her age.

Community, Culture and Information Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons rose to congratulate all those involved in Heritage Month, especially the participants in the Bermuda Day Parade and functions at Bernard Park.

"Bermudians from all walks of life enjoyed the day.

"The parade in my opinion this year was truly representative of the community.'' Delegated Affairs Minister the Hon. Sir John Sharpe said he and his wife visited Summerhaven in Smith's on Thursday night and observed it "must be a facility second to none in the whole world''.

Sir John extended "thanks and appreciation to the trustees, management and supporters who have made all that possible''.

Shadow Youth and Sport Minister Mr. Dennis Lister congratulated Bermuda Day Marathon Derby participants, especially winner Mr. Kavin Smith, noting that he set a new record in the event and planned to represent Bermuda in long distance running at the 1996 Olympics.

Mr. Lister also congratulated track star Mr. Brian Wellman, recently named Athlete of the Year, as well as the seven other Bermuda athletes honoured by Government last week.

Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness extended condolences to the family of Mrs. Allison DeRosa Newbould, who died recently.

In her younger years, she was an avid sporstwoman who excelled in cricket and golf, he said. "She was just one of those really wonderful Bermudians -- always high spirited, she loved her country and loved her fellow man.'' Deputy Opposition Leader Mr. Walter Roberts also congratulated Mr. Smith, adding that he "had the opportunity when (Mr. Smith) was rather young to beat him in a race''.

Mr. Roberts sent condolences to the family of Mrs. Lydia James Simons, who died last week. Mrs. Simons was "a real stalwart in the community,'' he said.

Environment Minister the Hon. Gerald Simons said in addition to the athletes honoured by Government, ZBM was to be congratulated for televising the award ceremony live for the first time. It showed the technical expertise of ZBM's largely Bermudian staff, Mr. Simons said.
