unrest in the hotel industry.

This morning the BIU are to meet Sonesta Beach employees over eight recent redundancies and the suspension of a chambermaid.

And later today all unionised hotel workers will meet at BIU headquarters for talks on Sonesta and the on going duspute with the hotel sover gratuities.

The two meetings follow similar talks with shop stewards two weeks ago on the same subject.

Union president Mr. Ottiwell Simmons said: "The Sonesta Beach meeting concerns a number of grievances at the hotel including redundancies. We want to discuss what kind of approach our members want to take.

"The later meeting will address ways to pressure hotel employers into an agreement to the satisfaction of both parties.

"We also want to look at ways of getting gratuities which were not paid to staff.'' Mr. Simmons said there is a general feeling of discontent among hotel workers in Bermuda.
