poisonous fumes on board a yacht yesterday morning.

The couples, both thought to be in their mid-50s, had spent the night on board the yacht Phantom , moored off Castle Island in Castle Harbour.

The alarm was raised at about 7.30 a.m. when the crew of another boat, Maverick climbed aboard.

The four unconscious victims were found foaming at the mouth and appeared to have suffered a seizure. They were immediately taken to the Marriott water sports dock where a qualified nurse was on hand to give first-aid treatment.

Although two of the crew needed no more attention, the other pair were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

The incident was one of many marine mishaps during the Cup Match holiday.

A Police spokesman said that, despite warnings from Marine Police, the unit was kept busy with many speeding offences being reported. Other common offences included a lack of safety equipment and vessels failing to display a decal.
