The man was making a telephone call in the bedroom of his Cavendish Road home when he saw the strange sight, about 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

He immediately gave chase but the culprit managed to escape with around $1,200 in cash, a mini-computer and a tape recorder.

Police investigating the incident reported that the burglar had gained entry through an unlocked upstairs window using a ladder.

In another incident a visitor disturbed an intruder in the bedroom of a Warwick guest house.

Again, the offender was able to escape when he jumped off a balcony and ran away. It occurred around midnight on Tuesday.

Police Community Relations Officer P.c. Gary Venning said: "On searching the room the victim discovered his wallet containing about $150 in cash together with credit cards and other personal items had been stolen.''
