PLP's Dr. Ewart Brown for comments he made in a television interview.

Mr. Woolridge, speaking in the House of Assembly on Friday, claimed Dr.

Brown's said that instead of going to Washington to settle the Base lands cleanup, the PLP would seek to have the Americans ease their stop list restrictions.

That, said Mr. Woolridge, showed a disregard for Bermuda's drug problems and American law.

But Nelson Bascome (PLP) claimed the Minister was misrepresenting Dr. Brown's statements.

Mr. Bascome then raised the issue of some summer day camps being cut, notably those run out of schools in the East End.

The cuts were sure to place hardship on parents during the summer and asked the Minister of Youth if anything could be done to rectify the situation.

Opposition Leader Jennifer Smith voiced similar concerns, especially as schools would be getting out two weeks earlier. She too urged the Minister to provide something.

Minister of Youth and Sport David Dyer said every effort had been made to make the programmes available but because of restructuring of the Education system, crews from the Department of Works would be carrying out improvements in those schools over the summer. The cuts would be for one year only.
