Builder injured at ACE site
The man, who has not been named, suffered a slight head injury while working at the ACE building site off Bermudiana Road, at 1 p.m. yesterday.
An ambulance took the injured man to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, but he was not expected to be detained. Police also attended the incident. A spokesman for Sea-Land Construction Ltd. said it was not clear how the accident had happened, adding that the worker had suffered a minor bump to the head.
WOULD-BE THIEF FOILED CRM AC Would-be thief foiled A visiting couple were hurt in a struggle with a would-be handbag snatcher in Blackwatch Pass, Pembroke, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at about 10.45 p.m. when a man pulled up beside the married couple, who were riding a livery cycle, and attempted to steal a handbag from the rear basket. The bag had been tied down with cord.
The visitors received minor cuts and abrasions as they grappled with the would-be thief who fled.
CASH, JEWELLERY STOLEN CRM Cash, jewellery stolen A large quantity of jewellery and cash were stolen from a private residence on Saturday evening.
The burglary occurred at the apartment on Happy Dale Road, Pembroke while the occupants were absent. Police are investigating.
INTRUDER DISTURBED CRM Intruder disturbed The female occupant of a Warwick home awoke to find an unknown male in her bedroom early on Saturday morning. The man then apparently left the house on Manse Road and went to another residence on Keith Hall Road.
Once again, the culprit was disturbed by the male occupant before making good his escape. Police are investigating.
ROAD SHUT AFTER CRASH AC Road shut after crash A two-vehicle accident on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish resulted in traffic being diverted through Radnor Road early on Saturday morning.
The details of the accident are not fully known but it is believed that two persons were injured.
The road was closed at 3:55 a.m. for two hours while Police and other emergency crews cleared the scene.
THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED CRM Theft suspect arrested A Warwick man suspected with stealing from tourists is in Police custody.
The 31-year-old was arrested after an incident at Warwick Long Bay on Saturday morning.
The visitors had momentarily left their belongings unattended and returned to find cash and other personal items missing.
Police were told to be on the lookout for a male seen acting suspicious in the area. A patrol officer stopped a man matching the description and he was found to be in possession of the stolen items.
The suspect is being held at Somerset Police station.
FIRE WRECKS MOTORCYCLE FIR Fire wrecks motorcycle Police found a motorcycle engulfed in flames after being called to a report of an assault on Warwick early on Saturday morning.
Apart from the suspicious fire there were no people at the scene.
The officers then attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where two persons had been admitted for injuries sustained in an alleged machete assault.
