Police reported the thief forced his way into the restaurant and pryed open the cash register, removing money, personal items and of cigarettes worth a total of $700.

A 25-year-old Pembroke man has been taken into custody in connection with the theft.

Police are also investigating a theft at White's Supermarket on Monday night where a customer removed $50 from the cash register.

The thief is described as a dark skinned man, about 5' 9'' tall, clean shaven with a slim build.

He was wearing a white crash helmet, white T-shirt, black denim jeans and white sneakers.

It is believed he left on a light-coloured auxiliary cycle heading west on Middle Road.

Anyone in the area between 7 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. on Monday who can assist Police is asked to contact Det. Insp. Jonathan Smith at 295-0011.
