Smith, of Sound View Road, Sandys, would have received a longer jail sentence if he hadn't given "substantial'' help to Police, the court heard. Narcotics officers found the cash along with nearly 30 grams of 78 percent pure cocaine when they raided Smith's home.

They also found a silver spoon, a pair of scissors and various plastic bags and twists.

Smith admitted possession with intent to supply and possession of drug equipment.

Puisne Judge the Hon. Mrs. Justice Wade told him he would normally face a sentence of eight years or more, but she had taken into account substantial help he had given Police.

"Cocaine continues to be a serious problem in this community and its use must be discouraged, but people who come forward and assist the Police can expect to get some discount.''
