She joined law firm Conyers, Dill and Pearman after completing an undergraduate business programme at Ryerson Polytechnic University and three years at the Osgoode Hall Law School, both in Toronto.

Following that, she completed a one year tutelage at the Fraser Milner Firm in Toronto.

"I am now working in the corporate department and enjoying it immensely -- the calibre of lawyers is very high,'' Ms Lucas said shortly after being called to the Bar last week.

"And with the upcoming employment legislation, I am looking forward to a chance to combine my education in business, human resources and in law, my experience in Canada and my experience in Bermuda in corporate law to make a contribution to the practice of law here.''
