Cricket tour praised
Bermuda Cricket Board of Control for their role in hosting a successful cricket tour that featured the unofficial world champion Australian test team.
Sen. Alf Oughton (Ind) said he attended the final match at the Somerset Cricket Club on Mother's Day and was impressed by the family atmosphere that he encountered there.
Government Senate Leader the Hon. Gerald Simons asked the Upper House to send condolences to the family of the late Mr. Earl Jones, the father of UBP Sen.
Lynda Milligan-Whyte .
Sen. Simons said Mr. Jones was involved in the army and Customs and demonstrated "integrity, dignity and strength throughout his life''.
He also asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mr. John Lough who arrived in Bermuda from Wales in the 1960s and worked in the education system.
Sen. Terry Lister (PLP) asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mrs. Rosalie Douglas, an avid churchwoman and founding member of the PLP.
He also sent condolences to the family of the late Mr. Erskine Zuill who was a musician and water trucker.
Sen. Lister sent condolences to the family of the late Mrs. Helen Maynard, a member of the West End Scholl PTA and a founding member of the Packwood home.
The late Nakia Butterfield's family was sent condolences by the Upper House.
Ms Butterfield passed away while she was studying abroad. She was the niece of Sen. Neletha Butterfield (PLP).
Sen. Lister asked that congratulations be sent to Mrs. Joanne Gibson a member of P.R.I.D.E. and Mr. Clint Smith for organising the recent inter school sports competition.
Sen. Yvette Swan (UBP) asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mr. John MacSweeny and she asked that congratulations be sent to the organisers of the Carib Art show and the gala dinner featuring Gen. Colin Powell.
Sen. Gary Pitman (UBP) meanwhile asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mrs. Charlotte Smith and praised long serving staff at Elbow Beach hotel.
Sen. Butterfield asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mr.
Stuart Talbot and that congratulations be sent to Nurse of the Year Ms Rhonda Daniels and the veteran secretaries honoured at a Bermuda Professional Women's Association luncheon.
