Dellwood celebration The Dellwood Middle School is celebrating the completion of months of renovations with an open house tomorrow.
Local dignitaries for the grand opening will include acting Minister of Education Milton Scott and Minister of Works and Engineering Alex Scott.
Some $5 million has been spent on the school since last summer to extend and re-furbish the school.
Dellwood now boasts a new "cafetorium'', design and technology building, re-located music room, and two pre-fabricated rooms for the art and science labs.
And covered ramps and elevators make the entire complex wheelchair accessible.
Future plans for the school include a new gymnasium, and tennis and basketball courts on the site of the school's present field.
Tomorrow's ribbon cutting will take place at 5.30 p.m. followed by a special address by Mr. Alex Scott entitled "The Future of the Dellwood Site''.
Activities for the evening will include a book fair, the unveiling of portraits of past principals, dinner, and numerous academic, art, computer, drama and sport demonstrations by students.
Open House committee member and learning support teacher Joseph Whallen said the school was looking for sponsorship from the business community for the book fair which will allow each classroom to have a wide selection of reading material.
Mr. Whallen also pointed out that both parents and teachers contributed to the planning of the Open House.
