week in the wake of security concerns.

Mr. Dill said he would be touring designated middle schools and two senior schools.

"The purpose is to meet with teachers and discuss their concerns.'' Mr. Dill expressed confidence the Ministry could work with teachers. "We both recognise the problem with violence. The issue of security is just one aspect.'' On Tuesday afternoon, Chief Education Officer Dr. Joseph Christopher met with principals from Warwick Secondary, Northlands, Whitney Institute and Sandys Secondary.

"We discussed any changes which may be necessary to make in the provision of security measures,'' he said. "We made decisions considered to be appropriate but are not releasing details.'' The meeting followed a demonstration by more than 500 members of the Bermuda Union of Teachers at Warwick Secondary.

It is understood four uniformed security guards have now been stationed at the school. Previously there were only two, both in plainclothes.

Mr. Dill had offered to meet teachers following Tuesday's demonstration, but said yesterday: "I did not hear back from them.'' He added the subject of security would be discussed at a March 24 conference involving the US National Association of Secondary School Principals.

"We are actually going to review the effectiveness of security guards at end of month. It will coincide with information from this conference,'' Mr. Dill said.
