Umoja Nia Spencer, 21, of South Shore Road, sentenced by acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp yesterday after he admitted speeding at 60 k.p.h., driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for Police.

Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told Mrs. Mapp that on June 26, Police spotted Spencer riding on South Road, where a radar check clocked his speed at 60 k.p.h.

When an officer chased him, Spencer continued to ride.

Spencer then drove down South Shore Road, making a left onto Tribe Road Number 2, and then a left onto Sandymount Lane.

He drove the bike up some steps and onto South Shore Road and then rode down another flight where he jumped off and ran away on foot.

A Police check revealed that Spencer was off the road until 1995.

When asked if he had anything to say, Spencer said: "I knew I was in the wrong, and I intended to turn myself in to Police. I don't know why I was riding.'' Mrs. Mapp replied: "You obviously had no regard for your own or anyone else's safety. You thought even less of the court's order.'' Mrs. Mapp fined Spencer $300 plus 12 months off the road for driving at 60 kph, $450 and an 18-month suspension for driving while disqualified, $450 and three years off the road for dangerous driving and $125 for failing to stop for Police.

All the driving bans are to run concurrently.

"You see, Mr. Spencer,'' Mrs. Mapp said. "Your little spree on the road for no reason just cost you $1,325.''
