David A. Maust, 35, of Tank Hill pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and driving without a licence when he appearded in Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on December 11 at 2.35 a.m., Maust was riding along South Road in Devonshire in the eastbound lane travelling west.

"He collided with a car in that same lane travelling east,'' Sgt. James said.

"Police arrived on the scene and noticed that Maust's speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed.'' Sgt. James added that an alcohol test showed that Maust had 193 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Maust $450 for driving while intoxicated and disqualified him from driving for 12 months. He was also fined $150 for driving without a licence.

Two other men also appeared in Magistrates' Court for driving while intoxicated.

Twenty-two year-old Carlton Emery of Hill View Road, Warwick was fined $450 and disqualified from all vehicles for 12 months.

Sgt. James told the court that on January 1 at 5.00 a.m. Police went to Longford Hill Road where Emery had been involved in a single vehicle accident.

"They noticed that Emery was unsteady on his feet and his black Yamaha was lying in the trees,'' Sgt. James said.

Emery admitted to having a drink. An alcohol test showed that he had 181 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Francisco Mendonca, 31, of Mariners Lane Pembroke was also charged with driving while intoxicated.

Sgt. James said Mendonca was seen by Police slumped over the steering wheel of his car after he stopped at a red light on Front Street.

"Police followed the vehicle as it weaved from side to side almost colliding with the wall near the Bird Cage,'' Sgt. James said.

When asked by Police if he had been drinking Mendonca said: "I've had one too many.'' A breathalyser test showed that he had 145 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Mr. Francis fined him $400 and disqualified him from all vehicles for 12 months.
