Education system needs overhaul -- Scott
Government's commitment to streamlining the Island's public school system.
The news came yesterday from Education Minister Milton Scott , just after he admitted that Bermuda's education system needed a major overhaul if it was to properly meet the needs of the community in years to come.
"We all know the state that education is in and we're going to make sure we move it to exactly where it should be,'' the Government Senate Leader pledged during the Upper House's Motion to Adjourn.
He outlined his "vision'' of how the Education Ministry should and could better serve Bermuda.
But, quoting Premier Jennifer Smith, he added: "Hope is immediate, but change is gradual'.'' Noting greater efficiency as a major goal, Sen. Scott said there were now seven fewer officers working in the Ministry. "We're looking at refining what we have and empowering the teachers in the classrooms so they know exactly what they're doing,'' he said.
