Burgess -- who previously lived in a private residence.

But the 80-year-old from Flatts Village loves it.

Miss Burgess, a former chambermaid at the Castle Harbour Hotel, likes to assist the nursing attendants and housekeepers with their duties.

"I do most anything during the day,'' said Miss Burgess, who moved to the Home at the beginning of June. "But I like to dry dishes and fold towels.'' Recalling the "old days'', Miss Burgess said she never married because "my mother remarried three times'' and "I don't want no-one to hold me down''.

Asked why she came to the Packwood Home, she quipped: "I'm getting old -- look at my grey hair.

"I like living here,'' she added. "There are a lot of good people and believe me -- these days, it's hard to find good people.'' Like Miss Burgess, most residents at the refurbished Packwood Home seem to have adjusted well to their new life, according to nursing assistant Mrs.

Pauline Muhammed.

"We've had no complaints so far -- just praises. And we get a lot of comments on the good food and beautiful views,'' she said.

Mrs. Alice Dean, who will be 92 in August, moved to the Packwood Home from another senior citizens' home.

"I love it here,'' she said. "The staff are so friendly and they really look after you.

"Living here is convenient. There is so much to do and we have everything right at our doorstep.'' FOND REFLECTIONS -- A former long-time member of Packwood Home's management committee, Mrs. Olive Smith, worked with residents in the old Home.
