information in a report on storm surge was being kept from the public.

Deputy Governor Mr. John Kelly said a public presentation on the report was being planned.

But the EMO first wanted to notify the occupants of some 2,000 homes deemed to be at risk of flooding in the event of a major category-five hurricane.

After they had been notified by letter, people who wanted access to the information should have no problem getting it, he said. But the actual report was two inches thick and even the executive summary was highly technical.

Mr. Kelly confirmed the report contained information on which harbours, inlets and sounds would be affected by storm surge.

Independent MP Mr. Stuart Hayward had accused Government of withholding information contained in the report which dealt with the effects of sea level surges on boat moorings.

That information might affect insurance premiums and policies for boat owners, he ventured.

The Royal Gazette understands at least two insurance companies have contacted Government and the EMO seeking copies of the report.
