That's the total number of people signed up by Sunday's deadline for participation in the vote to replace House Speaker the Hon. David Wilkinson, who has announced he will not run in the next election.

The UBP membership represents one third of the constituency's more than 1,200 eligible voters.

The number is considered low by the three candidates and party officials. UBP executive Mr. Joe Gibbons yesterday yesterday said the party had been hoping the candidates' drive would have enlisted 50 percent of eligible voters.

An all-candidates meeting will be held on Monday at St. Paul's Christian Education Centre.
