He will throw his hat into the ring on April 12, nomination day for the elections.

It is the father-of-two's second bid to get on the Corporation.

Last June he unsuccessfully vied for a vacant common councillor's spot, which went to lawyer Miss Sonia Grant.

Mr. Madeiros worked at the Bank of Bermuda for 22 years, and has run the Sportseller in Hamilton for five years.

If triumphant at the April 19 election, Mr. Madeiros believes his business background will stand him in good stead.

One of the fronts he has vowed to fight on is parking in the city.

The 48-year-old is a staunch supporter of the planned multi-storey car park at Bulls Head, but he believes more should be done for Hamilton shoppers.

He is also concerned about improving the docks.

The Mayor of Hamilton the Rt. Wor. Cecil Dismont, 78, has already announced he would be fighting for re-election.

It sets the stage for the first battle for the Mayoralty in 60 years.

Businessman and deputy Mayor Mr. Bill Boyle will be challenging Mr. Dismont.
