Minister of Works and Engineering the Hon. Leonard Gibbons yesterday announced that various painting jobs were currently out to tender with bids expected to be opened early next week.

A spokesperson for the Ministry said painting work will be carried out on the interior and exterior of the Paget Post office, and the roof of the Old Military Hospital in Prospect.

The work also includes the exterior of the House of Assembly and buildings on Paget Island.

"In March the Ministry advertised and accepted bids on the exterior of both Gibbs Hill Lighthouse and the Port Royal Golf Course,'' the spokesperson said.

"The number of bids received on both projects was seven and 14 respectively, and in both instances the lowest bid tendered was accepted by the Ministry.

"In addition, bids were opened during April on painting work to be carried out on the exterior and interior of the Aquarium.'' There were 15 bids received and the lowest was accepted. It came from one of the contractors on the Ministry's approved contractors' list.

"Tenders will be sent out within the month on approximately a dozen school painting projects and a number of other Government buildings.''
