Grandfather admits sex assault
granddaughter will be evaluated by a psychologist before he is sentenced in Magistrate's Court.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis on Monday adjourned sentencing and extended bail until next month while the report is carried out.
Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy told the court that the man threw the girl on his bed and pulled off her pyjamas when she came to say good night.
He rubbed her penis against her vagina despite requests by the child to stop.
The arrival of the child's grandmother ended the incident.
Earlier, a psychiatrist told the girl's mother the child had been sexually abused. Her mother reported her daughter appeared withdrawn and emotionally upset since they moved back to Bermuda from abroad to live with her grandparents. The child later indicated to the psychiatrist she had been sexually assaulted.
The defendant, who resides with his wife in Pembroke, was arrested in July after the child's mother reported the matter to the Police.
He admitted the charge saying: "I'm sorry for what has happened.''
