The Bermuda Fire Service was called to the split-level home on Beacon Hill just after 12.30 p.m., a spokesman said.
In all, 12 firefighters responded, with three trucks coming from Hamilton and one from the Port Royal station, he said.
They found an infant's room on the ground floor engulfed in flames, he said.
There was no report of anyone home at the time, and nobody was injured.
Two firefighters used breathing gear and a hose line to extinguish the blaze.
Fire damage, estimated at $5,000, was confined to one room, he said. There was smoke damage throughout the house.
