Impaired driving accidents probed

Officers on patrol arrived at the scene near St. James Court to find a 20-year-old Hamilton Parish man trying to start his bike.

A Police spokesman said it later emerged that the rider had lost control of his bike and had driven down a nearby embankment. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The second accident took place at about 2.30 p.m. The spokesman said a car, make unknown, went through a wall on South Road near the Peace Lutheran Church in Paget.

The 37-year-old Pembroke man who was driving the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving also.

MAN ARRESTED CRM Man arrested A 40-year-old Hamilton Parish man was arrested early Saturday morning after he was found to be in possession of drug equipment.

Police officers on patrol at Angle Street in Pembroke spotted the man on the balcony of an abandoned building, said a Police Services spokesman.

He was subsequently searched and arrested for possession of drug equipment.

Inquiries are continuing.

WOMAN ASSAULTED CRM Woman assaulted A 28-year-old Smith's Parish man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in her home early Sunday morning.

A Police spokesman reported yesterday that the 23-year-old woman had apparently been out for the evening with the assailant but upon returning to her home an argument ensued and he assaulted her.

She was not seriously injured but the man allegedly did considerable damage to the property shortly before the Police arrived.

The man left the scene but was located and arrested by Police a short time later. Inquiries in to the incident are continuing.

FLEEING RIDER CAUGHT CRM Fleeing rider caught A 29-year-old Hamilton Parish man allegedly fought the law but the law won, a Force spokesman reported yesterday.

On Friday night Police officers attempted to stop the man for speeding on Crow Lane but he apparently attempted to elude them on his cycle.

The man struck a sidewalk at the junction of Trimingham Road and Berry Hill Road and lost control of his cycle. As the officers approached him, he ran away.

He was eventually arrested after a violent struggle on suspicion of driving whilst impaired. Inquiries are continuing.

VISITOR INJURED IN CRASH AC Visitor injured in crash A visitor's trip to Bermuda turned sour when he fractured his shoulder in a single vehicle accident.

The 43-year-old American was traveling south on Middle Road in Southampton when he apparently lost control of his cycle and fell into the road near the entrance to Port Royal Golf Course.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
