Police were able to locate two key witnesses.

Mr. Ford, also known as "The Black Indian Chief'', died on May 23, 1996 -- following a hit-and-run cycle accident near Shelly Bay around 3.30 a.m. on May 20, 1996.

The inquest, which continues this morning, was delayed last week while Police searched for Maurice Junior Harvey, who was tagged as the other cyclist in the accident, and key-witness Reid Robinson who was the first person to arrive at the accident scene.

Yesterday, Mr. Robinson positively identified Mr. Harvey as the other cyclist in the accident.

And when Mr. Harvey took the stand to give evidence, his recollection often did not match other witness statements -- including his own. Although Mr.

Harvey continually stopped short of admitting that he was involved in the accident -- claiming memory loss from the time he rode past Flatt's Village until the following morning -- he said it was "possible'' he was involved.

He also admitted that a shoe found at the scene of the accident was his.

Mr. Harvey stated that he awoke the following morning with injuries, including a scraped shoulder and fractured toe. But he said he did not know how he had received the injuries.

And he denied that the scrapes on his shoulder resembled road-rash -- despite statements given to Police saying he had road-rash all over his body. Although Mr. Harvey was unable to give any reason for his loss of memory, he denied drinking more than one beer on the night of the accident.
