Two CedarBridge Academy students who were suspended for fighting will return to school next week.

CedarBridge principal Ernest Payette yesterday told The Royal Gazette parents of the boys, both 16, had been contacted and their sons had agreed to comply with the school's expectations.

The boys were suspended after they were involved in a fight at the new senior secondary school at Prospect on day two of classes.

They had to be separated by security guards.

The incident was one of several violent events involving CedarBridge students that day.

Mr. Payette has stressed that violence will not be tolerated at the new school.

And he has received the backing of the National PTA which met earlier this week and discussed the incidents.

The group's spokesperson Wendy Augustus said parents decided at that meeting that not only will they not accept violence in schools, but they also needed to come up with solutions.

"Instead of simply reacting to what's happening, we would like to give some sort of substance to how we are prepared to address these issues,'' Mrs.

Augustus added.

"Things are going to happen in schools, public or private. But we also want good things to be known about the schools as well.'' She said the executive will meet next week to come up with "something concrete''.

Education Minister Jerome Dill, who has pointed out that only a "very small'' minority of CedarBridge students were causing problems, said parental assistance was vital to the solution.

He noted that a parent contacted him the day after the incidents to say she was appalled about what had taken place.
