The warning follows a string of jewellery thefts on Monday.

A spokesman said cash and jewellery were the thieves' main targets.

"Again we'd like to advise everyone not to buy jewellery from just anybody, particularly at a low price.

"It is against the law for anyone to receive stolen goods knowing them to be stolen.''
