work together, Government Senate leader Linda Milligan-Whyte said yesterday.

Two substantial pieces of legislation she said -- the Education Act 1996 and the Companies Amendment Act 1996 -- are expected to take the majority of Senate's time.

Meanwhile it is anticipated that the Telecommunications Amendment Act 1996, Affiliation Act 1996 and the Passenger Tax Amendment Act 1996 will be shorter.

"The Education Act and the Companies Act could take some time but I expect to get the cooperation of the Senate to deal with the minor acts first so that we can get them out of the way.

"Then we could get to the Education Act and the Companies Act.'' If the debate does not finished today there could be a session on Friday or next Monday.
