Sgt. Cyril Plant, prosecuting, told Senior Magistrate, the Wor. Will Francis that William Ambrose Amaral, 48, of Middle Road, Southampton, was seen to drive up Barrack Hill, St. George, and swerve from side to side, almost colliding with two vehicles.

Sgt. Plant said that Police noticed that Amaral's eyes were glazed, and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol. A breath test at the Hamilton Police station gave a reading of 189 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Amaral was also stopped on Kindley Field Road and found to be driving without a valid driver's licence.

Mr. Francis fined Amaral $450 and a year off the road for drunk driving, and fined him $150 for driving without a licence.
