to stealing a handbag from an unattended vehicle.

Troy Roberts Harris, of Horseshoe Road, said as he was walking by the car, which was parked on St. John's Road in Pembroke, he "just couldn't resist the temptation of the purse in the unattended vehicle''.

Prosecuting Sgt. Peter Giles told the court that Patricia Simons, the owner of the car, had just went into a nearby clothing store.

"When she returned a couple of minutes later, she saw a man, later identified as Harris, standing by the open front passenger door of her car with her black leather purse in his hand,'' Sgt. Giles said.

"She cried out and he dropped the purse and ran but someone from the store caught and restrained him. However he escaped before Police arrived.'' After a description was given to Police, Harris was later caught and arrested.

The court also heard that Harris had previously been arrested and jailed for numerous breaking and enterings.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis bailed Harris in the sum of $300 for an update of a social inquiry report.
