Flood's trial was adjourned almost immediately after it began on Thursday because the required number of jurors could not be assembled.

Shortly after that matter was settled yesterday morning, the newly picked jury was dismissed so defence and prosecution lawyers could engage in a voir dire examination of witnesses and evidence.

A voir dire is a hearing within a hearing at which the admissibility of evidence is debated and decided on in the absence of a jury.

Puisne Judge the Hon. Mrs. Justice Wade will make her decision on the voir dire proceedings on Monday morning. The jury will return on Monday afternoon.

Flood pleaded not guilty to one charge of murdering Richardson, one charge of breaking and entering and one charge that he stole $3,400 from the dead man.

All the offences are alleged to have occurred on December 17, 1993.
