possessing cocaine and cannabis.

James E. Dillion 30, of Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to the charges. Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that Dillion arrived at the Civil Air Terminal on November 11.

"As he was going through Customs Dillion's luggage was searched and Customs officers found 8.41 grams of cannabis in a zip-locked plastic bag,'' Sgt.

Osborne said.

He added that the officers also found .30 grams of cocaine wrapped in a piece of paper in the pocket of Dillion's trousers.

When asked by Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp why he had brought drugs into the Island Dillion said it was for his own personal use.

However, Mrs. Mapp replied: "There is a sign in the arrivals hall that says substances are not permitted. Drugs are also illegal in the US, so if you can't do it in your country don't do it in ours.'' She fined him $150 for possessing cocaine and $900 for possessing cannabis.

Business consultant Mr. Alastair Grant will be offering advice to speakers involved in marketing charities.

The workshop will focus on speakers making sure their message comes across clearly and their personalities come through.

The training room of the Bank of Bermuda's personnel administration building on Gorham Road is the site of the workshop, to be held from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Monday. Attendees are asked to show up at 6.15 p.m. to ensure a prompt start.

Mr. Grant, who will be offering his workshop in Bermuda for the third time, has years of experience as a consultant rainer in Great Britain and Bermuda.

DRINKING SPREE PROVES COSTLY CTS Drinking spree proves costly A 25-year-old Sandys man who was found drunk and incapable was fined $150 in Magistrates' Court.

Gary R. Robinson of Broome Street pleaded guilty to the charge.

Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that on March 11 at 11.30 p.m. Police saw Robinson sitting on a sidewalk at the junction of Mangrove Bay and Ferry Road.

"Robinson was in an apparent drunken stupor and was not easily roused by the officers. He was taken to the Somerset Police Station,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

HIGHER PRICES AT THE PUMPS EGY Higher prices at the pumps Bermudians now have to pay more for their fuel, after a price hike this week.

Gasoline prices have gone up the most, increasing by one cent a litre. The per-litre cost of diesel fuel and kerosene, meanwhile, has risen by 0.3 cents and 0.2 cents respectively.

As a result, the maximum retail prices for petroleum products on the Island is now just under $1.12 a litre for gasoline, 86.5 cents a litre for diesel fuel and 66.2 cents a litre for kerosene.

BEER DRINKER FINED FOR LITTERING CTS Beer drinker fined for littering A 36-year-old Pembroke man who drank beer in public and then threw it on the sidewalk was fined $250 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Richard C. Allen of Marsh Lane pleaded guilty to drinking intoxicating liquor in public and littering.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that on November 10 officers saw Allen drinking from a bag on Cedar Avenue.

"When they approached Allen he dropped the bag and its contents on the sidewalk and started walking,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Allen $150 for drinking liquor in public and $100 for littering.
