Samuel E. Wilson of Balloon Bank, Warwick, pleaded guilty to stealing the cycle, making false documents and uttering a false bill of sale.

Prosecutor, Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that the owner of the cycle had left the Island from January to March and lent the bike to a friend.

"On March 3 the complainant's friend lent the bike to Wilson for 15 minutes but he did not return it,'' Sgt. Osborne said. Five days later the bike was reported stolen.

"Wilson said he had sold the bike for $250 and drew up a bill of sale. He had it signed by a witness and then had the bike put in the purchaser's name.'' Wilson told the court: "The guy that lent me the bike owed me $300 and he gave me the bike to hold as collateral. I did not steal it. I needed the money so I sold it.'' Sgt. Osborne said that Wilson had a history going back several years for theft and at the time of the incident was still on a two month suspended prison sentence.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "Four months after receiving a suspended prison sentence you do the same kind of thing.'' Mr. Francis bailed Wilson in the sum of $500 and adjourned the case for sentencing on May 3.
