And on Thursday, Floyd Smith, 44, of Friswell's Hill, was remanded in custody to await a social inquiry report after pleading guilty to the callous crime.
The break-in happened on August 12 while the elderly occupant was staying with relatives. Smith was discovered lying on the bed in the apartment by the owner of the Landfall Restaurant, which is in the same block on Sandy Lane in Hamilton Parish.
Smith did not have permission to be in the room and further investigation found that a window had been broken.
The owner called the Police but Smith ran off before they arrived.
He was arrested on August 31 following a Police investigation.
Smith will return to court on October 14 for sentencing.
