stealing from his friend.

Gladstone H. Simmons of Wellington Slip Road admitted the charge when he appeared in court on Friday.

Prosecutor Sgt. Cyril Plant told the court that on November 9 Simmons was at the residence of the complainant preparing dinner in the kitchen.

"The complainant left the kitchen and later noticed that it got quiet, so he went back and saw that Simmons had gone into the bedroom and was searching through the bedside table,'' Sgt. Plant said.

He added: "The complainant went and looked in his bank book and noticed that $50 had gone. He saw Simmons put the money in his trouser pocket and when he went to tell him to put it back Simmons pushed him out of the way and walked out of the house.'' Simmons was later arrested.

When asked by Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis if he had anything to say Simmons replied: "I was at my friend's house and we were drinking. He used to give me money. The Police arrested me and my friend got the money back. I was feeling nice and I was going to get some more rum.'' Sgt. Plant told the court that Simmons had previous convictions for theft.
