Pedestrian Maxwell Scott, 81, of Southampton suffered head injuries after the incident, which happened at the junction of Par-la-Ville Road and Church Street, at 10.30.am. yesterday.

Mr. Scott, who also suffered a broken thigh and shoulder, was said to be stable in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward V11 Memorial Hospital last night.

The motorcyclist, 59-year-old architect and former commodore of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, B.W. (Jordy) Walker, suffered concussion, a broken rib and shoulder.

He was released from hospital last night after treatment.

After the accident a small crowd gathered around the victims as they lay motionless in the middle of the road.

The two men were conscious when the ambulance arrived, and both were fitted with neck-braces.

According to Police, Mr. Walker was travelling on a Honda moped on Church Street and slowed down to turn at the intersection. Mr. Scott walked between two cars and was hit by the bike.
